贝林罕博士获得过多项荣誉奖项,the Lockheed Martin Aware for Ocean Science and Engineering, the 14th Robert Bruce Wallace Lecture at MIT, and the Antarctica Service Medal等。

About the Speaker:
Dr. Chris Scholin earned his Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology - Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in 1992 and served as Chair of Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI)’s Research Division from mid-2005 to early 2009 before appointment as President and CEO in late 2009. He maintains an active research program that focuses on development and application of instruments for collecting and analyzing microorganisms remotely in coastal, open ocean, and deep-sea environments.
Dr. James G. Bellingham got his Ph.D. in Physics in 1988 from Massachusetts Institute of Technology and serves as Chief Technologist of MBARI. Dr. Bellingham is a leader in the field of marine autonomous robotics. He started the MIT Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Laboratory at Sea Grant in 1988. Dr. Bellingham is a recipient of many awards, including the Lockheed Martin Aware for Ocean Science and Engineering, the 14th Robert Bruce Wallace Lecture at MIT, and the Antarctica Service Medal. Today his research activity focuses on extending these techniques to the study of microbial marine ecosystems.
Lecture Introduction:
With large distribution area, ocean has a profound impact on human life. Ocean has a close connection with national security and safeguard, human survival and sustainable development, global climate change and the exploitation of marine strategic resources such as oil gas and mineral. How to observe, monitor and explore this vast resources pool has become an advanced research topic. Human beings cannot understand and utilize oceans without the strong support from the modern marine science and technology. For a long time, ocean observation system has been developed and applied to the research of climate change, biogeochemical cycles, ecosystem assessment and environmental hazards. However, with the increasing complexity of observation technology, the difficulty of problems is rising as well. Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) was first used for military and then was applied widely to oceanographic research, playing an increasingly important role in traditional marine survey. To develop and improve the existing underwater vehicle is significant to the future marine survey and development. The keynote speakers will share the development of marine autonomous observation system and SUV. They will also introduce the newest observation system and forecast the design and application of future underwater vehicle, leading audiences to the forefront of marine observation.
